Psychology, the study of human behaviour and experience, is an exciting option offered at AS/A level. The course looks in depth at twenty research papers which illustrate the scope of Psychology and the range of methods which psychologists use to gather their evidence. The course aims to develop the studentsí psychological skills as well as their knowledge of Psychology. It therefore involves the opportunity for students to conduct their own research, individually or in small groups.
From a personal perspective, the students should find the fundamental questions of Psychology interesting. Why do I behave like this? Why do I think like this? Why do I feel like this? As well as being academically challenging, this particular course has been so designed to help students see the implications of their studies for everyday life.
Psychology has close ties with a wide range of disciplines and would complement many of the different courses offered at AS/A level, whether they be arts or science or social science options.
